India in Black and White – Part 2

After spending our first four days in Delhi, we hopped on over to our hardcore R&R on the beaches of Goa.

I had asked a good friend, who had spent some time in India years ago, what parts of Goa he knew and checked that against more recent wikitravel articles. This put us on a cab due south from Dabolim airport near Vasco da Gama. After an hour’s driving on surprisingly good roads with a surprisingly blind driver, we got to Patnem Beach.

Patnem was everything we were looking for: laid-back, not too crowded, a definitely alternative vibe, different locations to choose from and good food. So we stayed and let the stress drain out of us for a few days.

Fully rested, our beach-sitting being at an end, we headed back north toward Panjim. The prime reason for our trip to India was our friends getting married, but being a guest there I only snapped a handful of shots from the periphery of the wedding, none of which have made the cut. So the next blog post will leapfrog the wedding and go straight to the decaying grandeur of Goas capital.
